Altmire’s ‘New Jobs Push’ Just More of the Same Failed Policies
President Obama’s Upcoming Jobs Proposal Simply More of the Same That Voters are Now Rejecting More Than Ever

Washington — Although Pennsylvania Democrat Jason Altmire and his fellow Democrats insist they will now focus on jobs, the proposals they have discussed so far are merely recycling their same failed policies that voters are rejecting in increasing numbers by the day. If all Altmire and his Democrat leaders have to propose is more job-destroying taxes and failed stimulus spending, then middle-class families in Pennsylvania will have to look elsewhere for the pro-growth policies they demand.

“If Jason Altmire and President Obama use their latest jobs plan do-over to merely push more of their failed, unpopular policies, it would not create jobs and only demonstrate how out of touch they are with Pennsylvania families,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “As long as Altmire and President Obama continue to double down on their same old job-crushing policies, voters understand that the bad economy will get even worse, not better.”

President Obama has boasted of his upcoming jobs plan, but the details so far show the Democrats are merely presenting “a compilation of old proposals”:

“The White House on Wednesday said President Barack Obama would unveil fresh ideas to jump-start the economy and cut deficits, but details offered so far appeared to be a compilation of old proposals.

“Obama faces serious doubts among Americans about his economic leadership and is now trying to convince skeptical voters and Wall Street that he has a workable plan to keep the United States from dipping back into recession.” (“Obama readying plan to boost jobs, cut deficits,” Reuters, 8/17/11)

These same Democrat proposals are seeing record levels of unpopularity, which makes their decision somewhat bewildering:

“A new low of 26% of Americans approve of President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy, down 11 percentage points since Gallup last measured it in mid-May and well below his previous low of 35% in November 2010.” (Lydia Saad, “New Low of 26% Approve of Obama on the Economy,” Gallup, 8/17/11)

In Pennsylvania, the numbers are also quite dismal for Jason Altmire, with approval of President Obama at only 35% and disapproval at 58%. (Colby Itkowitz, “Dismal Approval for Obama in PA,” The Morning Call‘s Pennsylvania Ave. Blog, 8/19/11)

In their newest of many jobs plans, Jason Altmire and President Obama have the opportunity to finally provide Pennsylvania middle-class families with the pro-growth policies they are searching for. However, all signs seem to indicate that they will instead recycle their same unpopular, failed policies that voters have been rejecting in record numbers.
