Shuler Wants to Party Like it’s 2009
Job Creators React Negatively to the Prospect of More Failed Stimulus Spending and Job-Crushing Taxes

Washington — Heath Shuler’s Democrat leaders have made it clear they are mostly offering the same failed policies that have seen a bad economy become worse, which is why job creators large and small aren’t expecting much from this latest jobs plan. With President Obama sending the plan to Congress on Monday evening, will Shuler also adopt this Washington Democrat jobs plan despite the fact that it inspires little to no confidence among actual job creators?

“If more of the same failed stimulus is all Heath Shuler is willing to offer, then it is clear that middle-class families in North Carolina will continue to have to suffer while watching the same results of a bad economy becoming worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Job creators large and small are already saying the Democrats’ plan will be as ineffective and pointless as the first stimulus, demonstrating that Shuler should instead support real pro-growth reform to get North Carolina back to work.”

Job creators have very low expectations for the Democrats’ new stimulus plan:

“The dismal state of the economy is the main reason many companies are reluctant to hire workers, and few executives are saying that President Obama’s jobs plan — while welcome — will change their minds any time soon. That sentiment was echoed across numerous industries by executives in companies big and small on Friday, underscoring the challenge for the Obama administration as it tries to encourage hiring and perk up the moribund economy…

“Even some company officials among the president’s invited guests at the joint address expressed concerns about how the government could pay for such a large package.” (Motoko Rich, “Employers Say Jobs Plan Won’t Lead to Hiring Spur,” The New York Times, 9/11/11)

This is not a surprise, considering it is the same failed Democrat policies recycled into a new package:

“Americans who watched President Obama’s call for a new jobs bill Thursday night might have wondered whether they were stuck in a time warp. A proposal to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to put people to work: Is this 2009 all over again? In some ways, sadly, yes.” (Editorial, “Jobs Plan Déjà Vu,” USA Today, 9/9/11)

House Democrats will soon get to weigh in on whether they will also continue to push for the same failed policies after President Obama brings his plan to Congress on Monday:

“President Obama will again press Congress to pass his American Jobs Act during a Rose Garden event on Monday morning. A White House official said that the president will send his legislation to Capitol Hill on Monday evening when Congress comes back in session.” (Sam Youngman, “President Obama sending jobs bill to Congress Monday,” The Hill, 9/11/11)

With President Obama sending another stimulus plan to Congress today, Heath Shuler will have to decide whether or not he is willing to offer more than a bundle of the same failed Democrat policies that saw a bad economy become worse. Job creators have made it clear this Democrat plan will be no more effective than the first stimulus, meaning Shuler will have to do more if he is committed to creating jobs for the middle-class families who need them in North Carolina.
