The Democrats’ Problem With Women is Their Failed Policies

March 30, 2012

Democrats Are Struggling to Court Women With Political Gimmicks Because of Their Record of Economic Failure and a Disastrous Government Healthcare Takeover

  • President Obama and the Democrats have attempted an extensive outreach to women voters, but it’s doing them little good as Democrats are “losing ground among women” voters.
  • Indeed, women have suffered the brunt of the Democrats’ failed economic policies, according to a newly released Pew survey. Women disproportionately lag other demographic subgroups in experiencing jobs growth in the Obama economy.
  • And despite what the Democrats have called a two year “effort to educate” Americans about ObamaCare, women continue to oppose ObamaCare by wide margins and support its repeal. If the Democrats think they can trick women into supporting their failed policies with political gimmicks, they’re in for a rude surprise.

President Obama and the Democrats have attempted an extensive outreach to women voters, but it’s doing them little good as Democrats are “losing ground among women” voters:

“OBAMA’S RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN RAMPS UP PITCH TO WOMEN”: (Jackie Calmes, “Obama’s Re-election Campaign Ramps Up Pitch to Women,” The Boston Globe, 3/11/2012)

“OBAMA DOWN AMONG FEMALE VOTERS FROM 2008 RESULTS”:” (Byron Tau, “Poll: Obama Down Among Female Voters from 2008 Results,” Politico, 3/14/2012)

“DESPITE A SIGNIFICANT OUTREACH EFFORT TO FEMALE VOTERS,” OBAMA “LOSING GROUND AMONG WOMEN”: “Despite a significant outreach effort to female voters and Democratic accusations of a GOP ‘war on women,’ a new Bloomberg poll shows Obama losing ground among women from his 2008 vote share.” (Byron Tau, “Poll: Obama Down Among Female Voters from 2008 Results,” Politico, 3/14/2012)

Indeed, women have suffered the brunt of the Democrats’ failed economic policies, according to a newly released Pew survey. Women disproportionately lag other demographic subgroups in experiencing jobs growth in the Obama economy:

NEW PEW REPORT: “SLOW JOBS GROWTH FOR WOMEN COULD COST OBAMA THE ELECTION”: (Vicki Needham, “Slower Jobs Growth for Women Voters Could Cost Obama the Election,” The Hill, 3/25/2012)

“WOMEN ARE THE ONLY GROUP FOR WHOM EMPLOYMENT GROWTH LAGGED BEHIND POPULATION GROWTH”: “Out of all the groups represented in Pew’s survey — including blacks, whites, Hispanics and Asians — women are the only group for whom employment growth lagged behind population growth from 2009 to 2011. During that time, female employment grew by 0.9 percent and lagged behind growth in the population of working-age women by 1.5 percent.” (Vicki Needham, “Slower Jobs Growth for Women Voters Could Cost Obama the Election,” The Hill, 3/25/2012)

IN OBAMA’S ECONOMY, ONLY 600K JOBS FOR WOMEN, 2.6 MILLION FOR MEN: “That has led to jobs gains of only 600,000 — from 65.5 million to 66.1 million — for women, compared with 2.6 million for men during those two years, the survey showed.” (Vicki Needham, “Slower Jobs Growth for Women Voters Could Cost Obama the Election,” The Hill, 3/25/2012)

EMPLOYMENT FOR WOMEN REMAINS 2 MILLION BELOW PRE-RECESSION LEVEL: “Employment for women in the final three months of last year was 2 million less than its pre-recession level of 68.1 million.” (Vicki Needham, “Slower Jobs Growth for Women Voters Could Cost Obama the Election,” The Hill, 3/25/2012)

And despite what the Democrats have called a two year “effort to educate” Americans about ObamaCare, women continue to oppose ObamaCare by wide margins and support its repeal. If the Democrats think they can trick women into supporting their failed policies with political gimmicks, they’re in for a rude surprise:

OBAMA SPOKESMAN RECENTLY CLAIMED WHITE HOUSE SPENT “MORE THAN TWO YEARS NOW IN AN EFFORT TO EDUCATE” AMERICANS “ABOUT THE BENEFITS” OF OBAMACARE: “The administration has been involved formore than two years now in an effort to educate the American public about the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.”  (Press Gaggle by Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest en route Richmond, VAMarch 9, 2012)
