Tierney Again Defends Job-Killing Regulations that Keep Businesses from Creating Jobs
Massachusetts Democrat Votes Against Common-Sense Efforts to Address Excessive Government Regulation, Which is Small Business’ Top Problem
Washington — John Tierney continues to ignore the concerns of small businesses after voting against The Regulatory Accountability Act today and defending the unprecedented wave of job-killing red tape the Obama Administration has championed. Until Tierney and his fellow Democrats actually act to help small businesses instead of just paying them lip service, middle-class families in Massachusetts will continue to watch the economy struggle.
“John Tierney should stop paying lip service to small businesses while doing everything he can in Washington to make life even harder for them,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “When given another chance to help protect small businesses from the unprecedented wave of new regulations from Washington, Tierney again sided with the job-killing Democrat policies that will make a bad economy even worse.”
Washington Democrats have promoted an unprecedented level of new regulations from agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):
“As Kathleen White of the Texas Public Policy Foundation told the House Energy and Commerce Committee earlier this year, ‘never in its 40-year history has EPA promulgated — at the same time — so many costly new regulatory dictates. Therefore, it is not surprising that the top problem facing small businesses is complying with government regulations:

But John Tierney voted against The Regulatory Accountability Act today, which brings more accountability and transparency into the rulemaking process to ensure that new regulations are fair and not overly burdensome to job-creators. John Tierney was again presented with an opportunity to help small businesses and decided instead to stand in the way of job creation. Middle-class families in Massachusetts want their lawmakers to help small businesses create jobs, but Tierney isn’t listening.
