Unemployment Remains High As Owens Refuses To Break Allegiance with His Party’s Failed Economic Policies
New York Democrat Fails to Provide the Leadership Needed to Grow the Economy
Washington — The national unemployment rate for January was released today at the persistently high rate of 8.3 percent proving that Bill Owens’ empty promises have brought nothing but serious problems to an already weak New York economy. Washington Democrats pledged to add private sector jobs and grow the economy but instead they have wasted taxpayer money on failed stimulus programs, added burdensome red tape in place and ultimately supported long-term high unemployment.
“Bill Owens’ consistent job-destroying agenda has put up roadblocks to recovery by stalling economic growth and depressing small business owners,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “New York families have heard Owens’ continued rhetoric about job growth but they just aren’t seeing any results. It’s time for Owens and his party to respond with concrete solutions and not empty campaign rhetoric to the problems that Americans are facing.”
In January, the national unemployment rate remained dangerously high at 8.3 percent. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Accessed 2/3/2012)
When presenting their nearly trillion dollar failed stimulus as a job-creating package, Democrats in Washington boasted that unemployment would be around 6 percent at the end of 2011 if it was passed. Rather than trusting that Democrats are willing and able to fix the economic problems that plague the nation, Americans are just giving up and not even taking part in the labor force:
The announcement of a 8.3 percent national unemployment rate for January exposes the continued allegiance Bill Owens has shown to his party’s taxing, spending and borrowing that knocked the legs out from under the New York economy. Will Owens finally be the leader that the New York middle class needs or will he play ignorant to the stifling impact his failed policies have on their lives?
