#IWANTREPEAL: Obama: “Full Speed Ahead” After ObamaCare Decision, What Will House Dems Do?
Leading Up to Decision Time, Dem Has to Decide Between Big Government and California Families
WASHINGTON — In anticipation of the Supreme Court decision, Democrat leaders all have the same message: they will continue pushing for the job-crushing, burdensome priorities that comprise their massive government healthcare takeover. However, as the clock ticks down to the Supreme Court decision, will Jerry McNerney side with Californians that have seen their access to and quality of care diminish or with his Democrat leaders’ big-government agenda?
“Despite its skyrocketing price tag and failure to reduce healthcare costs, President Obama will do anything to defend his party’s ‘crown jewel’ regardless of what the Supreme Court decides,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “California families are now seeing what is most important to Jerry McNerney’s party – big-government takeovers and irresponsible spending sprees.”
The Obama Administration said recently that no matter what the decision is, the Democrat party will continue to support ObamaCare:
“Covering all the bases ahead of a momentous Supreme Court ruling, the Obama administration plans to move ahead with major parts of the president’s health care law if its most controversial provision does not survive, according to veteran Democrats closely involved with the legislation.
“Surviving parts of the law would ‘absolutely’ move ahead, said the congressional official. A Congress mired in partisan trench warfare would be unable to repeal or amend what’s left of the law, allowing the administration to advance. … ‘Legislatively we can’t do a thing, and we are going to move full speed ahead (with implementation),’ the official said.” (Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, “AP Sources: Administration Mulls Pared Health Law,” Associated Press, 6/18/2012)
Even if the Supreme Court decides to repeal part or all of the Democrats’ healthcare overhaul, Obama will not stop risking families’ access to care:
“President Barack Obama is confiding to Democratic donors that he may have to revisit the health-care issue in a second term, a position at odds with his publicly expressed confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold the Affordable Care Act, according to three Democratic activists.” (Hans Nichols, “Obama Tells Donors Health-Care Fight May Loom After Court Rules,” Bloomberg, 5/31/2012)
