Space, Kilroy Call on Rangel to Resign

July 30, 2010

Reps. Zack Space of Dover and Mary Jo Kilroy want fellow Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel to resign from Congress in the wake of a charges by the bipartisan House Ethics Committee that the powerful chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee broke numerous ethics rules.

Space and Kilroy aren’t the first House Democrat to call on Rangel, of New York, to resign. Others include Rep. Betty Sutton, D-Barberton.

“Rep. Rangel’s violations undermine America’s faith in the institution, and they are exactly the sort of actions that Congressman Space came here to clean up,” said Andrew Ricci, a Space spokesman, in a statement this morning. “The American people expect and absolutely deserve better.”
