Key House Liberal Says Obama’s Stumping Not Changing Many Healthcare Votes

March 10, 2010

From TheHill.com: President Barack Obama’s stumping for healthcare isn’t changing many — if any — votes in the House, a top liberal lawmaker said Wednesday night.

Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), the co-chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said that while the president is projecting the right message, it’s not likely to move many votes in Congress.

“I think the entire debate that’s been going on — For what, a year or so? — has reached a point where we’re glad to hear the president speak out, and say what’s on his mind and what he wants us to do, and get the country revved up,” Woolsey said during an appearance on MSNBC. “But I don’t think it’s going to change a lot of minds.”
