If Critz Has His Way, Medicare Will Be Broke in 12 Years
Pennsylvania Dem Chooses Politically Toxic ObamaCare Over Protecting Seniors’ Medicare
WASHINGTON — Roughly 50 million American seniors rely on Medicare to provide them with health coverage that they may not be able to afford otherwise. However, Mark Critz is willing to jeopardize seniors’ access to coverage by gutting $741 billion from Medicare in order to fund his big-government healthcare takeover.
“Democrats’ slashing of Medicare was a major factor that led to their historic losses in the House in 2010, and that was when their cuts to the program were projected at $500 billion,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Now that the Medicare cuts are estimated at a devastating $741 billion, there is very little chance that Pennsylvania seniors are going to continue to risk their healthcare on Mark Critz’s government healthcare experiment for another two years.”
The latest CBO estimate for ObamaCare’s Medicare cuts are $741 billion – $240 billion more than they first estimated. (“Estimates for the Insurance Coverage Provisions of the Affordable Care Act Updated for the Recent Supreme Court Decision,” Congressional Budget Office, July 2012)
Medicare will go bankrupt by 2024, in merely 12 years. (Anjeanette Damon, “Beyond attacks, Heller and Berkley differ fundamentally on approach to Medicare,” Las Vegas Sun, 8/2/2012)
Democrat Whip Steny Hoyer conceded that it was ObamaCare that cost them the House majority in the 2010 midterm elections:
“’It was clearly a liability in the last election in terms of the public’s fear,’ House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Thursday during a briefing with reporters.” (Aaron Blake, “Study Shows Health Care Bill May Have Cost Democrats the House,” The Washington Post, 3/9/2k012)
