Remembering Russ Carnahan’s Failed Spending Policies

December 20, 2011

Good Afternoon –

On the eve of the stimulus anniversary, I thought you would be interested in taking a look back at Russ Carnahan’s rhetoric on the failed spending plan versus the economic reality.

Rhetoric
Russ Carnahan: “[I] am confident that this package will make our economy stronger and more resilient

“This jobs and recovery plan will create or save 69,000 jobs in Missouri in fields including education, health care, research and construction.”

(Press Release, “Carnahan Votes To Put Americans Back To Work,” Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office, 2/13/2009)

Reality
Since the stimulus passed:

Missouri’s unemployment rate has increased from 8.5% to 9.5%. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)

76,220 jobs have been lost. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)

NRCC Comment: “Unfortunately Missouri’s working families have seen nothing but ballooning deficits and mountains of debt come from the spending plan Russ Carnahan voted for. Carnahan failed to deliver the results once promised to middle-class families.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek
