John Tierney luck of the Irish

June 25, 2012

In case you missed it, yesterday was the one year anniversary of John Tierney’s wife being released from prison. The Boston Herald highlighted how her sentence stacked up against others for similar convictions. You guessed it – hers was shorter.

LUCK OF THE IRISH – IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS WHEN TOASTING ST. PATRICK:

John Tierney has voted with the Democrat party more than 93% of the time over his career.

Yet, in 2006 Tierney broke with the majority of his party and voted against the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act. The bill would have given $10 million per year for the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute illegal Internet gambling operations.

The vote came after Tierney and his wife visited the family’s illegal gambling empire in Antigua and after Tierney’s brother-in-law was indicted the first time.

TODAY’S QUESTION FOR TIERNEY:

Why did John Tierney vote against a bill to toughen laws on illegal gambling? Does he regret that vote?
