North Carolina Democrat’s Policies Wither Amidst Record Unemployment Numbers

Washington — The results of Mike McIntyre’s job-crushing Democrat policies over the years continue to become clearer as new reports show unprecedented unemployment trends and new polls show many voters have come to expect a depression. As the economy continues to show alarming signs on a nearly daily basis, McIntyre and his fellow Democrats in Washington have signaled they will continue these very same big-government policies that preceded the situation we find ourselves in today.

“Mike McIntyre would be having a serious denial problem if he wants to suggest that the policies he and his fellow Democrats have championed over the years have fixed our troubled economy,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “If anything, McIntyre’s big-government policies have made matters worse as American families struggle through unemployment and do not expect the economic climate to get any better. Surely McIntyre’s North Carolina constituents are growing weary of the same old ‘solutions’ they find coming from the Democrats who control Washington.”

A new government report shows that it now takes longer for the unemployed to find a new job than at any point in the survey’s history:

“We’ve seen the headline numbers from the monthly jobs report; losing a job means a long stint without employment these days. The median period of unemployment is now at a historic high; 39.7 weeks according to the May Report. That’s the highest it has ever been in the history of the survey. A new research report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics dug into this trend to offer new details on how long it takes to make the transition from unemployed to employed and found that 11 percent of job seekers took a year or longer to land a new job. And record numbers of voters believe that the country is headed for a full-blown depression:

“Obama’s dropping numbers come as Americans’ fears that the country is headed into another Great Depression are higher than they’ve ever been in the CNN poll. In all, 48 percent of those surveyed said another great depression is likely in the next 12 months, while 41 percent said the same in 2009 and 38 percent said so in 2008.” (Jennifer Epstein, “Poll: Record-high number think country headed into depression,” Politico, 6/8/11)

These results come at the heels of years of Democrat policies from Washington:

“The real ‘bumps on the road’ to recovery are these policies and the larger climate of hostility toward job creators that still prevails in Washington. A National Labor Relations Board that wants to stop businesses from moving plants; a $20 billion political raid on banks over foreclosures; hundreds of major new regulations from ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank and the EPA’s war on carbon energy; federal deficits that Mr. Obama says require higher taxes; near-zero interest rates for 30 months that have sent commodity prices soaring, and so much more.” (Editorial, “‘Bumps on the Road,'” The Wall Street Journal, 6/6/11)

As the economy shows new troubling signs every day, it will become increasingly difficult for McIntyre to argue that the Democrat policies he has fought for are working. Surely McIntyre’s North Carolina constituents want to avoid even more of these same Democrat policies that continue to make matters worse.
