New Poll Shows Boucher’s Policies Sinking in Popularity

Democrat Policies Hit New Low in Public Opinion

Washington- According to a new poll, Rick Boucher and his Democrat friends are setting new records in unpopularity with the American people after continuing to push their big-government, anti-jobs agenda. Just days after the Obama administration revealed that a National Energy Tax could cost families nearly $2,000 a year, the Gallup Organization released a poll showing that Americans are fed up with Democrats’ constant interference in everyday life – and that’s before the Democrat efforts to tax every person who flips on a light switch and a takeover of the healthcare industry are finalized.

“Americans are more likely today than in the recent past to believe that government is taking on too much responsibility for solving the nation’s problems and is over-regulating business. New Gallup data show that 57% of Americans say the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to businesses and individuals, and 45% say there is too much government regulation of business. Both reflect the highest such readings in more than a decade.” (Frank Newport, “Americans More Likely to Say Government Doing Too Much,” Gallup Organization, 9/21/09)

“Democrats’ big-government agenda might be wildly unpopular already, but Rick Boucher should fear the day that Americans start handing over even more of their hard-earned money to fund his party’s reckless National Energy Tax and government healthcare takeover,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “These poll numbers are no accident – Boucher and his elitist party leaders have embraced the ‘Washington knows best’ attitude that has caused their popularity to plummet. The American people have spoken and Boucher is paying the price for his role in his party’s constant efforts to interfere in his constituents’ daily lives and fund his party’s next government takeover.”

Their poll numbers are sinking quickly, but Rick Boucher and his Democrat friends continue their push to raise taxes and expand the role of government in everyday life. As American families and businesses continue to feel the pinch from Washington’s reckless big-government policies, Boucher should know that election day can’t come quickly enough for the Virginia voters who will decide his fate.
