Unemployment Escalates to 9.7% as Larry Kissell Continues to Defend Jobless Recovery
New August Unemployment Numbers Prove that Democrats’ Policies Still Aren’t Working, Leaves Middle Class Families Asking: “Where are the Jobs?”
Washington- Unemployment numbers for August increased to 9.7%, confirming that Larry Kissell’s continued support for his party leaders’ destructive economic agenda has done nothing to help the ailing economy. More than six months after Kissell voted for the failed $787 billion ‘stimulus’ plan, which passed a mountain of new debt onto North Carolina families and promised to create new jobs, the country has yet to see any indication of job growth.
“With more than six months under his belt, Larry Kissell has had ample time to take the first steps to turning our economy around,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Middle-class North Carolina families are suffering to maintain their livelihoods as Kissell continues to defend the Democrats’ so-called “stimulus,” which still hasn’t yielded any results. Now, with the August unemployment rate at an astronomical 9.7%, Kissell still needs to answer the fundamental question: ‘Where are the jobs?’”
Today, the Department of Labor announced that an additional 216,000 Americans lost their jobs in August. The national unemployment rate rose yet again in August and reached a 26-year high of 9.7 percent, exceeding economists’ expectations.
According to Bloomberg, the country’s dire economic situation is expected to continue for the foreseeable future:
With no real progress to show since January, Larry Kissell and Democrat leaders owe North Carolina families an explanation. How much higher does unemployment have to rise before he will finally make his constituents a higher priority than Nancy Pelosi’s political agenda?
