Democrats’ Addiction to Spending Means They Are Demanding Higher Taxes
Washington — Although the Democrats have long been demanding higher taxes as part of a deficit reduction deal, it remains to be seen which taxes Mike Ross will specifically want to raise. Government spending and debt levels are already having a negative impact on the struggling economy, and raising taxes would further harm job creation efforts when they are needed most. Since the Democrats are increasing their calls for higher taxes by the day, which taxes will Ross insist upon imposing on Arkansas families and small businesses?
“The disastrous effects of Mike Ross and his fellow Democrats’ government spending and borrowing spree are still stifling job creation in a struggling economy,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Ross and his Democrat colleagues are unwilling to quit their addiction to spending, so they are instead demanding middle-class families to pay more in job-destroying taxes. Since Arkansas families and small businesses will bear the burden of these tax increases, the least Ross can do is specify which ones he intends to raise.”
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Elmendorf testified that excess spending and debt are having a negative impact on our economy:
And the Democrats’ plans for increased taxes would make a bad economy worse:
Since Mike Ross and his fellow Democrats are unwilling to relinquish their free-spending ways, they are now insisting upon job-destroying tax increases. Now Ross should indicate which tax increases he will require to earn his vote on a debt ceiling deal.
