Blue Dogs Clearly Appreciate Irony as they Elect Stimulus-Backing Utah Democrat to ‘Promote Fiscal Responsibility’

Washington- Today, Blue Dog Jim Matheson was elected to head up his caucus of supposedly conservative Democrats – a group that has repeatedly stood by the side of liberal Democrat leaders like Nancy Pelosi as they force their reckless agenda through Congress and onto the American people.

The press release announcing Matheson’s selection says it all about the sad state of the Lap Dog coalition: the best they could come up with to “promote fiscal responsibility” is a big-spending Pelosi puppet who backed a $787 billion spending bill disguised as a ‘stimulus.’

“If Jim Matheson is the best example of ‘fiscal responsibility’ that Democrats could conjure up, they might be in even more trouble than we thought,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Matheson has continually backed his party’s reckless spending sprees and even voted for the $787 billion failure known as the stimulus bill. There’s nothing fiscally responsible about Matheson’s willingness to hand out taxpayer dollars with no apparent reason other than to bankrupt future generations of Americans.”

By putting a big-spending Pelosi loyalist at the helm of their “fiscally responsible” coalition, Democrats have once again sent a message to Americans to hold onto their wallets and brace themselves for the next job-killing spending spree that Jim Matheson will attempt to force through Congress and onto the backs of taxpayers.
