Dems Still Demanding a Blank Check to Continue Spending Spree, More Borrowing from China
Virginia Democrat Wants to Raise Debt Limit Without Any Spending Cuts
Washington — Opposition to raising the debt ceiling without a plan to stop spending money we don’t have remains high. However, Gerry Connolly is pushing for the opposite, which is a blank check from the American people to continue his Democrat government spending spree. As the government borrows $4 billion every day to pay for a spending binge it cannot afford, Connolly’s choice speaks strongly to his incredibly misguided priorities.
“Gerry Connolly is once again demanding a blank check from the American people to continue spending money we simply do not have,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Despite the overwhelming unpopularity of limitless borrowing from foreign countries like China, Connolly wants to continue borrowing $4 billion a day in order to pay for the Democrat spending spree, burdening middle class families in Virginia with even more debt.”
A “clean debt limit” bill that raises the debt ceiling with no measures to reduce spending is only supported by one-in-ten voters:
Despite this overwhelming opposition, Connolly is advocating for exactly that. (“As stock market drops over worries about US debt, Welch leads 114 Democrats in demanding a clean extension of debt ceiling,” Office of Rep. Peter Welch, 4/18/11)
Gerry Connolly’s constituents in Virginia understand that borrowing $4 billion a day to pay for Connolly’s spending addiction cannot continue. Unfortunately, Connolly himself is instead demanding a blank check to continue his government spending spree which we simply cannot afford.
