Obama, Pelosi Host Lavish Fundraiser for Politically Imperiled McMahon
Dem Leaders to Raise Much-Needed Money for Their Loyal Lapdog

Washington- President Obama and Speaker Pelosi will be hosting a lavish fundraiser for New York Democrat Michael McMahon in the heart of Manhattan next Thursday. After casting several potentially career-ending votes, it comes as no surprise that Obama and Pelosi would pay him back for his unbridled loyalty. Throughout the past two years, McMahon has recklessly supported his party’s radical agenda which has continued to spend too much, tax too much, and borrow too much. Recognizing that his career is in peril, McMahon’s party bosses will attempt to raise much-needed cash for what is sure to be a bruising re-election battle for the New York Democrat.

In the less than two short years that McMahon has been in office, New York’s unemployment rate has increased drastically from 6.2 to 8.6 percent. And despite supporting his party’s trillion-dollar failed stimulus plan, economists forecast a long road to economic recovery.

“‘I am afraid the level of unemployment will be too high for too long,’ Volcker said in the prepared text of a speech yesterday in St. Louis. My characterization of the outlook is a long slog.'”

“Volcker, 82, said the U.S. will require a ‘long period of economic adjustment.”

“‘Not much of that can be done this year, or even next,’ Volcker said. ‘It is a challenge not just for this Congress and this administration, but for years ahead.'” (Mike Dorning, “Volcker Says U.S. Unemployment Will Be ‘Too High for Too Long'”, Bloomberg, 5/04/2010)

McMahon and his party’s big-government, big-spending agenda has economists begging Democrats to scale back on spending and 30 million Americans are now faced with potential new tax-hikes.

President Barack Obama’s Democratic allies in the Senate promise to cut the deficit by almost two-thirds over the next five years, but their budget plan could threaten about 30 million people with tax increases averaging $3,700 because of the alternative minimum tax.” (Andrew Taylor, “Millions face tax increases under Dems budget plan,” Associated Press, 4/21/2010)

“‘The nation’s fiscal path is ‘unsustainable,’ and the problem ‘cannot be solved through minor tinkering,’ the head of the Congressional Budget Office said Thursday morning.

“Doug Elmendorf, best known for arbitrating the costs of various health care proposals, added his voice to a growing chorus of economic experts who predict dire consequences if political leaders don’t scale back spending, increase taxes or both — and soon. (Jonathan Allen, “CBO chief says debt ‘unsustainable’,” Politico, 4/06/2010)

“After recklessly supporting his party bosses’ failed economic policies  92 percent of the time, Michael McMahon has helped drive New York’s economy into the ground,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Now, because of his unbridled devotion to the Democrats’ out-of-touch partisan agenda that spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much, McMahon finds himself facing a turbulent political environment and a potential loss in November. Unfortunately for McMahon, no amount of campaign cash raised by Obama and Pelosi can get him out the mess that he has created for himself.”
