West Virginians Are in Luck: Rahall Snags Millions for a Non-Working Mine
As Obama Wages War on Coal, This Is Rahall’s Pathetic Defense
Washington- President Obama is waging a war on coal, but West Virginians can finally rest easy after Nick Rahall snagged millions in federal funds for visitors to enjoy an historic mine in Fayette County. Once Rahall’s fellow Obama Democrats accomplish their goal of decimating the coal industry, West Virginians will at least be able to re-live the good old days before Washington politicians wiped out the state’s economy in pursuit of a costly environmentalist agenda.
“The National Park Service has approved $6.88 million in federal funds for the New River Gorge National River to stabilize and preserve the historic Nuttall Mine structures and make the Nuttallburg Mining Complex and Town Historic District in Fayette County ready for visitors, Rep. As a bonus, Rahall laughably claims that the project will create jobs – as Washington Democrats actively pursue a radical environmentalist agenda that will put West Virginians out of work:
“Rahall, D-W.Va., said the funds will put West Virginians to work, boost tourism and economic opportunities around the New River and help tell the story of southern West Virginia’s rich cultural heritage.” (Christopher J. Even worse, Rahall is either misinformed or intentionally making misleading claims. According to Recovery.org, the main contractor and subcontractors employed for this project are from outside of West Virginia.
“If this is the best Nick Rahall can do for West Virginia coal workers, his time in Washington is as good as over,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “At a time when his radical party leaders are waging war against coal, West Virginians are looking for more than an old mine to remind them of the glory days. Local families continue to struggle with a dire 9.3 percent unemployment rate, but the best Rahall can do is open a museum that puts out-of-state contractors to work.”
