Utah Democrat’s Party Leaders Flee from Their Signature Energy Policy that is Defined by the Solyndra Bankruptcy
WASHINGTON — With soaring energy prices continuing to burden working families and small businesses across the country, Jim Matheson’s Democrat leaders are already scrambling in hopes that voters will forget that his failed stimulus (Roll Call #70, 2/13/09) was supposed to be their signature energy policy. Will Matheson also try to run from the stimulus’ energy loan program that infamously left taxpayers with the $535 million bill for the Solyndra bankruptcy and try to rewrite history this election year?
“Jim Matheson and his Democrat leaders are hoping families and small businesses struggling with prices at the pump forget that their signature energy policy was the failed stimulus that squandered money on companies like Solyndra instead of promoting real energy independence,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Matheson’s failed stimulus energy loans are simply another reminder to his Utah constituents of how years of Democrat policies have simply made matters worse.”
Now President Obama is trying to reject the responsibility for stimulus failures like Solyndra even though Democrats welcomed them with open arms just a few years ago:
“We find it hard to believe that any reasonable person could interpret Obama’s remarks this week as anything but a distinct effort to put the blame for Solyndra in some one else’s pocket. The president should accept responsibility, not shirk it.”
(Glenn Kessler, “Obama’s Solyndra shuffle,” The Washington Post‘s The Fact Checker Blog, 3/23/12)Democrats seem to forget this was one of their signature energy policies, that was undermined by the fact that it was “infused with politics at every level”:
