NRCC airing attack ad against Kratovil
The National Republican Congressional Committee is airing a television ad against freshman Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-Md.) as part of a recess campaign connecting vulnerable Democrats to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The 30-second ad, which begins airing today in the Salisbury market, attacks Kratovil for voting against a GOP measure to investigate whether Pelosi was telling the truth when she claimed the CIA lied to her about its interrogation techniques. The ad also points out that the freshman congress has voted with Pelosi 89 percent of the time.
“Accusing the CIA of criminal activity might make Nancy Pelosi popular with her San Francisco constituents, but it also makes her a liability in swing districts across the country,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain.
Kratovil is one of the most vulnerable House Democrats, representing an Eastern Shore district that gave John McCain 58 percent of the vote last year. He will likely be facing a rematch against Republican state senator Andy Harris next year.
The committee is also airing radio ads against six other House Democrats representing Republican leaning districts – Reps. Harry Teague (D-N.M.), Vic Snyder (D-Ark.), Stephanie Herseth (D-S.D.), Suzanne Kosmas (D-Fla.), Glenn Nye (D-Va.), and Tom Perriello (D-Va.).
And 10 additional House Democrats will be the targets of robo-calls featuring the same theme.
“While Frank Kratovil is working to create jobs and get our economy moving again, the GOP is resorting to their tired political playbook by launching desperate and misleading attack ads,” said Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesman Shripal Shah.
