Where in the world is… Larry Kissell

September 3, 2012

Day one of the Democratic National Convention and where is Larry Kissell? The Bank of America Stadium where President Obama will deliver his acceptance speech is less than 10 miles from his Congressional district and Larry Kissell is nowhere to be found.

National Journal says Obama being in Kissell’s backyard has caused the Congressman to be “uncomfortable.”
Kissell can’t keep anyone happy these days…

“We felt there was no reason to support Larry Kissell.” – Walter Rogers, Black Caucus Spokesman. (Charlotte Observer, 7/12/2012)

“Democrat Mayor of North Carolina city hopes to oust Kissell as 8th District write-in.”  (Charlotte Observer, 7/12/2012)

National Journal: Some N.C. Democrats Fret Over Convention Spotlight. “Rep. Larry Kissell, who is seeking reelection, and Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton,  who is running for governor, will both avoid the Democratic convention this week. Their decision illustrates just how far some Democrats—who are fearful that voters won’t distinguish between their relatively conservative records and Obama’s record as president—will go to disassociate themselves from the top of the ticket. It’s a pattern repeated in the few rural and Southern districts that Democrats control.” (National Journal, 9/2/2012)

NRCC COMMENT: “It’s going to be a  bad week for Larry Kissell. President Obama is less than 10 miles away and Larry Kissell can’t run away fast enough. As hard as he might try to pull a Carmen Sandiego, North Carolina families know that Larry Kissell has supported President Obama’s job destroying policies 89% of the time.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek
