New NRCC “Corrupt Democrats” Campaign Highlights

Steven Horsford with Paid Online Ad

Horsford Ignores Rules Set for the Rest of Society and Lives By His Own

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee is kicking off its 10 Most Corrupt Democrats campaign with a paid web ad on Nevada Democrat candidate Steven Horsford – whose record of living by his own rules while Nevadans are punished for it has become infamous. From ignoring public laws to not disclosing lobbyist-funded junkets, Horsford refuses to live by the same rules that are set for everyone else.

“Horsford wants to bring his above-the-law mentality to Washington so that his political paybacks can reach an even more appalling scale,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Blatantly violating the rules that everyone else is expected to follow is what Horsford knows best.  It’s time to stop him now before he takes his unethical playbook to Washington.”

The script for this ad is as follows:

ANNOUNCER: From personal favors to cover ups, backroom deals to special trips. These are the 10 most corrupt Dems of 2012.

This week’s Corrupt Democrat: Nevada’s own Steven Horsford.

Few have worked harder to earn this dishonor.

Parking in a handicap space? Yep.

TV ANCHOR: It is perfectly reasonable to expect our lawmakers to follow the same rules they ask us to live by.

REPORTER: The lot, she said, was full. Including all the handicap spaces and more.

ANNOUNCER: Secret trips abroad with lobbyists? Oh yes.

REPORTER: From the YouTube videos, the Poker Stars annual conference in the Bahamas looks like a lot of fun.

News 4 confirmed the corporation paid for Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford to attend the 2010 event.

In fact, a News 4 search of records detailing lobbyist gifts doesn’t reveal any of the trips.

ANNOUNCER: Selling access? Absolutely.

A 2010 investigation by the Review-Journal revealed that Horsford was selling private meetings with lawmakers in exchange for donations, calling it a “new low in Nevada politics.”

Nevadans deserve a candidate that plays by the same rules they do.

Nevadans deserves better than Steven Horsford.
