the good life

September 20, 2012

Hi there,

I wanted to make sure you saw the Web video that the NRCC released today on California Democrat Scott Peters.

Peters has been named our latest “Corrupt Democrat.”

Known for his financial negligence while serving on the San Diego City Council, Peters underfunded the city’s public pensions and hid San Diego’s financial problems from investors.

NRCC COMMENT: “Scott Peters sure knows how to live the good life. But while Peters was looking out for himself, he nearly drove San Diego into bankruptcy – and taxpayers were forced to pay to clean up his mess.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel  Scarpinato

The script for this video is as follows:

ANNOUNCER: From personal favors to cover ups, backroom deals to special trips. These are the 10 most corrupt Dems of 2012.

This week’s Corrupt Democrat: California’s Scott Peters

Here’s a man who really knows how to live the good life.

As a San Diego City Councilman, Peters let tax payers help pick up the tab for his Beamer.

Then, when the city faced the threat of water shortages in 2007, Peters urged residents to conserve, calling it quote “easy.”

Yeah, easy.

Even though Peters was using seven and a half times as much water as the normal household.

His explanation? He has a really big yard.

Worst of all, Peters voted to underfund public pensions, and offer $260 million dollars in bonds while hiding the city’s financial problems from financial investors.

Peters was later called ‘negligent’ by an independent investigation and the scheme nearly bankrupt San Diego.

Tax payers had to fork over more than $600,000 in legal fees for Scott’s defense.

But today Peters has nearly spent twice as much as that on his own campaign for Congress.

Scott Peters looks out for himself.

Californians deserve someone looking out for them.
