Sutton’s Big-Government Policies are Destroying Coal Jobs

Washington Democrats Blame Anything but their Failed Government Policies for Weak Economic Recovery

WASHINGTON — There’s something Betty Sutton doesn’t want Ohio working families to know – that her party’s hyper-regulatory, big-government policies are stifling economic recovery and keeping energy prices high. However, it is her war on energy that is responsible for destroying jobs with even more layoffs yet to come (Roll Call #603, 9/21/2012).

“The Ohio economy has suffered from Betty Sutton’s dedication to her party’s war on energy,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “However, her party refuses to admit that their big-government policies are to blame for higher everyday energy prices and less jobs. When will Sutton stop insulting Ohio voters and take responsibility for her party’s anti-energy agenda?”

President Obama campaigned recently on the idea that Democrats’ government agenda is not to blame for its suffocating effect on American energy:

“We don’t think government can solve every problem, but it’s not the source of every problem, [said Obama].” (“Remarks by the President at a Campaign Event,” The White House, 9/22/2012)

Due to Democrat-backed EPA regulations over 200 plants nationwide set to shutdown. (Michael Bastasch, “Report: More than 200 coal-fired generators slated for shutdown,” The Daily Caller, 9/21/2012)
