NRCC Statement on DCCC Chairman Accepting $100,000 Bank Bailout

WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee Communications Director Paul Lindsay released the following statement regarding Democratic Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Israel (D-NY) receiving a $100,000 bank bailout through the inappropriate use of a debt reduction program intended for struggling homeowners:

“Steve Israel appears to have cheated the system because of his position.  At a time when many American homeowners are struggling in the Obama economy, voters deserve to hear the truth from Israel as to how he obtained this sweetheart deal from a Wall Street bank.  Only an arrogant politician like Steve Israel could be this divorced from reality to think that this kind of activity is acceptable for a Member of Congress.”
