fact checking your own candidate

October 11, 2012

Why couldn’t Tammy Duckworth just tell the truth? It’s been less than 48 hours and Tammy’s efforts to deceive Illinois families have now been debunked by her own campaign! It’s always a good day when a campaign is forced to fact check their own candidate…

At Tuesday’s debate, Tammy was deliberately being dishonest with voters when asked about her involvement in a whistleblower lawsuit from her time at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. Duckworth simply said it was “not true.” But oh no! The court papers were discovered. Those darn facts!

Now the Duckworth campaign has been forced to eat Tammy’s untruthful words.

Duckworth spokesperson:  “This is a dispute between a VA employee and her direct supervisor. Tammy was added to the suit because of her job title as Director of the Agency, and this case has been dismissed several times…”

The Sun Times then reported: “However, the complaint does include specific allegations against Duckworth.”

NRCC Statement: “Tammy Duckworth hasn’t been honest with Illinois families about her inappropriate connection to this whistleblower lawsuit. Tammy Duckworth wants to represent Illinois families in Congress but we are learning that Tammy has a habit of not telling the truth. Illinois families deserve better.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Katie Prill
