Second Democrat Ad Pulled in MN-08

October 24, 2012

So if you didn’t think the Democrats could get more desperate in Minnesota’s 8th District, prepare yourself. Today, WDIO-TV in Duluth has pulled an ad hitting Chip Cravaack due to its flagrant lie about Chip and his family. This isn’t the first time Rick Nolan’s allies have had an ad pulled. Just last month the House Majority PAC had an ad yanked for being dishonest with voters. When is Rick Nolan going to condemn these outside groups?

NRCC Statement: “It’s shameful that two of Congressman Rick Nolan’s allies have had dishonest ads yanked from the airwaves and yet he continues not to denounce them. If Congressman Nolan really shared Minnesota values he would tell the DFL to stop with the false, disgusting personal attacks on Chip Cravaack.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Katie Prill

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – A Duluth television station is dropping an ad from the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party for claiming that Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack (kruh-VAK’) no longer lives in Minnesota.

WDIO TV sales director Debra Messer said the station pulled the ad Tuesday after Cravaack’s campaign objected.

Cravaack campaign manager Sheldon Anderson called the ad “misleading” and “defamatory” in a letter to the station.

The DFL ad shows a steelworker saying, “He doesn’t even live in Minnesota anymore.”

Cravaack is facing a tough challenge in the northeastern 8th District from Democrat Rick Nolan, who also says in his latest ad that Cravaack “doesn’t live here anymore.”

Cravaack lives in North Branch. His family moved to New Hampshire last year.

A DFL spokeswoman had no immediate comment.
