NRCC Incoming Chairman Walden Announces Liesl Hickey as Executive Director
WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee incoming Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) announced Liesl Hickey as his Executive Director for the 2014 election cycle:
“Liesl Hickey gets it,” said incoming Chairman Greg Walden. “She understands how Republicans can win in competitive districts. She has sharp political instincts and led our Patriot Program to help the House retain the second largest GOP majority since the 1940s. With this solid base in place, she will lead our team forward to gaining ground in 2014.”
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Greg Walden and look forward to continuing to be a part of our outstanding team at the NRCC,” said Liesl Hickey. “Greg and I share an understanding that forward and creative thinking and aggressively staying on offense will make our majority stronger in 2014.”
In 2012, Liesl Hickey led the Patriot Program and the NRCC’s effort to reelect members of the Republican Conference across the country in competitive districts. The Patriot Program under her direction raised $6 million for Members’ campaigns. Prior to rejoining the NRCC in 2011, Hickey served as a consultant for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in 2010. Hickey served as then-Rep. Kirk’s chief of staff during his time in Congress. The two crafted and organized the Suburban Agenda in 2006.
During the 2002 cycle, Hickey was a Field Representative at the NRCC and assisted with John Boozman’s 2002 special election victory. Hickey’s career in politics got its start at the NRSC when she served in the Finance Department, before moving on to serve as Finance Director for Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (IL) during his successful 1998 campaign.
