“And the winner is…” NRCC Video: President Obama Awarded for “Worst Idea” – His Sequester
“Most in Denial” and “Worst Idea” Awards Given Out in Honor of Obama’s Sequester
The Oscars might be over, but now come even more awards. The National Republican Congressional Committee released a web video today slamming President Obama and House Democrats for their role in the creating the sequester and refusing to replace it with common-sense reductions in wasteful spending.
In the video, Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi wins the “Most in Denial” Award, and Democrats Nick Rahall (WV-03) and John Barrow (GA-12) are also recognized for their award-winning roles in supporting President Obama’s extreme liberal agenda.
“Americans have seen this movie before and they don’t like it. The sequester is just another in a long line of failed policies created by President Obama and his House Democrat allies that will hurt our economy and crush jobs,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “House Republicans have twice voted to replace Obama’s sequester with responsible reductions to wasteful spending, but Democrats and the President continue to oppose those efforts.”
The video can be seen here:
The script for the video is as follows:

Nancy Pelosi Clip: It’s almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem.
Democrat Senator Max Baucus… Most honest about Obama’s Sequester
Senator Baucus Clip: “The White House recommended it, frankly.”
For creating the Sequester, the award for worst idea goes to President Barack Obama himself
And for their award-winning roles in Obama’s Sequester: John Barrow, Nick Rahall, and other liberal Democrats
Upon learning of this achievement, President Obama said,

According To Bob Woodward, Sequestration Was Clearly The White House’s Idea.” “At 2:30 p.m. Lew and Nabors went to the Senate to meet with Reid and his chief of staff, David Krone. ‘We have an idea for the trigger,’ Lew said. ‘What’s the idea?’ Reid asked skeptically. ‘Sequestration.’” (Bob Woodward, The Price Of Politics, 2012, pp. 326)
Politifact Rated President Obama’s Claim That Sequestration Was Congress’ Idea MOSTLY FALSE. (Molly Moorhead, “Barack Obama Says Congress Owns Sequestration Cuts,” Politifact, 10/24/12)
John Barrow and Nick Rahall Voted For Sequestration. (S. 365, Vote #690, Passed 269-161, 8/1/11)
