After Voting for Obama’s Sequester, Democrats Have Opposed Balanced Solutions to the Impending Cuts

WASHINGTON – With less than four days to go until Obama’s $85 billion Sequester goes into effect on March 1st, Washington Democrats have been noticeably absent from any attempt to replace these devastating cuts with a practical and responsible spending plan.

After originally voting for the sequester, and then casting a vote against the two sensible House Republican attempts to take a more sustainable approach to these harmful cuts, it is clear they want to take a backseat in the fight for responsible spending.

“House Democrats are showing the country their true colors by refusing to offer up any reasonable solutions to President Obama’s sequester,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Many of them voted for the sequester, and are now expecting millions of Americans to deal with the economic fallout. It’s time to take some responsibility and offer up a responsible, balanced solution to our nation’s spending problem.”

According To Bob Woodward, Sequestration Was Clearly The White House’s Idea.” “At 2:30 p.m. Lew and Nabors went to the Senate to meet with Reid and his chief of staff, David Krone. ‘We have an idea for the trigger,’ Lew said. ‘What’s the idea?’ Reid asked skeptically. ‘Sequestration.’” (Bob Woodward, The Price Of Politics, 2012, pp. 326)
