Chairman Greg Walden’s Statement on Rep. John Campbell’s Retirement Announcement

June 28, 2013

National Republican Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement following Representative John Campbell’s (R-CA) announcement today that he will not run for re-election in 2014:

“John has been an extraordinary champion for sound, fiscal responsibility and monetary policy since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004. As Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade, and as a member of the House Committee on the Budget, his work towards deficit reduction and commonsense tax reform has been instrumental and a crucial part of our nation’s journey towards fiscal solvency.

“John has been a dedicated and determined Representative for the people of California’s 45th District for almost a decade, and has always ensured that the voices of his constituents are heard in the halls of Congress. I wish him, Catherine and their family all the best and thank them for their service.”
