7 ObamaCare Failures This Week (August 12th-August 19th)

August 19, 2013

August recess may be a slow time in Washington, but there’s still no shortage of bad news about President Obama’s “train wreck” of a law. Last week, we saw everything from another major delay to a Democrat Congresswoman voting to cut her coworkers’ hours.

Here is the last week in ObamaCare failures…

1. Forever 21 (Hours Per Week)

Barack Obama

This morning, clothing store “Forever 21” announced that all non-management employees will be limited to 29.5 hours a week. With ObamaCare regulations coming down the pike to businesses with employees working 30 or more hours, this move, as Policy Mic’s Maggie O’Neill writes, “will function as a tangible example of the Affordable Care Act’s consequences and shortcomings.”

2. Another ObamaCare Delay: Cap On Out-Of-Pocket Costs

Throughout the summer, we’ve seen delay after delay of crucial components of Obama’s healthcare law. Last week, we were able to add another to the list. This time, the Obama Administration is delaying the cap on out-of-pocket costs—ensuring people will pay more for their healthcare. With this latest move, it’s hard to deny that Obamacare is simply being held together with duct tape and bubble gum.

3. Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Missed Half Of ObamaCare’s Legal Deadlines

From Forbes’ Avik Roy, an unpublished memo from the Congressional Research Service shows the Obama Administration has missed half of the legal deadlines in implementing ObamaCare.

Via Roy: “The CRS, Congress’ non-partisan in-house think tank, compiled 82 deadlines that the Affordable Care Act mandates upon the first three years of its own implementation. Remarkably, it turns out that the White House has missed half of the deadlines legally required by the ACA. And some of those deadlines remain unmet to this day.”

4. Newest Dem Analogy: ObamaCare Is Like The Constitution

Last week, Rep. Gregory Meeks compared ObamaCare’s implementation to the Constitution.

5. For Schools District, ObamaCare Gets An F

President Obama Visits Capital City Public Charter School

President Obama’s top-down takeover of healthcare is putting school boards in a difficult spot, just in time for students to head back for the start of the year. Reuters reported some school districts are cutting hours for substitute teachers and staff.

6. Talk About An Awkward Faculty Meeting…

It was reported last week, that associate faculty at Arizona State University will see their hours cut thanks to ObamaCare. That’s why it might be a little awkward for Congresswoman and ASU professor Kyrsten Sinema next time she steps on campus.

Sinema voted a few months ago to keep ObamaCare in place, which, in turn, accounted for many of her coworkers seeing their hours cut.

7. Meet Dan Maffei: He’ll Answer All Of Your ObamaCare Questions

Last week, we talked about how ObamaCare’s consumer “navigators” will have abbreviated training. Well, apparently they’ve contracted some of the work out to members of Congress. On Thursday, New York Democrat Rep. Dan Maffei encouraged folks to call up and ask him questions on this “train wreck” of a law. We, in turn, came up with some of our own.
