President Tells Congress “Don’t Burn The House Down,” Too Bad He Started The Fire
- Yesterday, President Obama restated his “my way or the highway” attitude toward blindly raising the debt ceiling.
- House Democrats are just as out-of-touch. A vast majority of them signed a letter promising Obama to support a blank check to raise the debt ceiling.
- Aside from that, their leader in the House denied that our country has a spending problem and is rooting for a shutdown because Democrats believe it will help them politically even if it hurts the country.
- This week has proved that voters cannot trust House Democrats to rein in a debt rapidly approaching $17 trillion.

Nancy Pelosi Said There Are No More Spending Cuts To Make. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says that while deficit reduction is a laudable goal, there are precious few spending cuts left to negotiate in exchange for raising the debt ceiling. ‘The cupboard is bare,’ the California Democrat said in an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s ‘State of the Union.’ ‘There’s no more cuts to make.’ (Elizabeth Titus, “Pelosi Says ‘The Cupboard Is Bare’,” Politico, 9/22/13)
Nancy Pelosi Said It Was A “False Argument” To Say We Have Spending Problem. “House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Sunday downplayed concerns about federal spending levels, arguing that Republicans’ laserlike focus on budget cuts is misplaced. ‘It isn’t as much a spending problem as it is priorities,’ Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said on ‘Fox News Sunday.’ ‘It is almost a false argument to say that we have a spending problem.’ she added” (Ben Wolfgang, “Pelosi: Federal Government Doesn’t Have A Spending Problem,” The Washington Times, 2/10/13)
