Votes Against Sitting Down With Republicans To Solve Our Fiscal Crisis
Collin Peterson is so afraid to sit down and talk with Republicans, he actually voted against a bill today that would create a bipartisan committee to fix our debt and get our country back on the right path toward fiscal discipline. Peterson would rather spend recklessly and raise the debt ceiling over and over again without ever addressing Washington’s spending problem.
Peterson has not only voted to keep President Obama’s shutdown in place, but he’s now voting against a common-sense plan to bring fiscal responsibility to our country. Minnesota voters have had enough of his partisan games.
“Minnesota voters know that we simply cannot spend more money than we take in,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Instead of sitting down with Republicans and working toward a solution to our fiscal crisis, Peterson is keeping the government shut down and continuing his pattern of reckless spending.”
Collin Peterson Voted Against A Bill To Create A Committee To Help Address Our Budget And Debt Problems. (H.R. 3273, Roll Call #534, 10/8/13)
The Bill Would Institute A Bipartisan, Bicameral Committee To Address Our Country’s Fiscal Crisis. “House Republicans will bring to the floor a bill to create a bipartisan, bicameral committee to address the current fiscal impasse that has shut down much of the government and threatens a debt default. A GOP leadership aide said the committee wouldn’t just handle the continuing resolution needed to fund the government. It would have broader jurisdiction similar to the 2011 Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, also known as the supercommittee.” (Emma Dumain and Matt Fuller, “GOP Proposes New Supercommittee to Resolve Impasse,” Roll Call 10/8/13)
