Edie from California Relies on Her HealthCare to Keep Her Alive, and ObamaCare is Threatening That Care

November 4, 2013

Millions of Americans are realizing that thanks to ObamaCare, they will be unable to keep their plans, their doctors, and their affordable health care costs.

But some of these Americans are dependent on their doctors and their current coverage – and unfortunately, it’s a dependency that they can’t afford to be without.

In Sunday’s Wall Street Journal, Edie Littlefield Sundy shared her seven-year cancer battle with readers, and expressed her frustration and fear surrounding the Affordable Care Act. Edie’s cancer treatment and doctors, all covered under her current affordable plan, will be terminated effective December 31st thanks to ObamaCare.

My choice is to get coverage through the government health exchange and lose access to my cancer doctors, or pay much more for insurance outside the exchange (the quotes average 40% to 50% more) for the privilege of starting over with an unfamiliar insurance company and impaired benefits.

Edie’s frustrations are more than warranted. Since she began treatment in 2007, her current health provider has paid $1.2 million to help her survive her disease and necessary treatments – without question or denying to support her as a patient.

For some, being unable to keep their doctors might not be a deal breaker when it comes to enrolling in the health care exchanges. For people like Edie, it’s non-negotiable. She relies on her health care for necessary life-saving treatments and care – and under ObamaCare, she’s going to struggle to pay her bills and stay healthy.

This is unacceptable – no questions asked. What does President Obama and his anything-but-transparent Administration have to say about this?
