This Democrat Running for Congress in WV Thinks Obama Opponents “Ignorant, Inbred, and Racist”

In his interview with Roll Call, Nick Casey (D, WV-02) said he wants Hilary Clinton to come campaign for him in his race for Congress. There’s only one little problem with that.

Clinton “kept a detailed list of Democrats they felt had betrayed her by backing Barack Obama in their long and bitter primary fight, according to a new book.” And Nick Casey fits that description perfectly.

Not only did he campaign for Obama In the 2008 general election (going so far as to imply that McCain supporters must be “ignorant, inbred, and racist”), but Casey also supported Obama in the primary fight against Clinton.

Casey apparently wants everyone to forget his steadfast support of Obama, but when you say things like “President Obama has gone far beyond any other President in his attempts at bipartisanship” it’s going to be tough to erase history.

NRCC Comment: “Nick Casey has been one of Barack Obama’s biggest supporters in West Virginia, even going so far as to question whether people not voting for Obama were ‘ignorant, inbred, and racist.’ He also secured himself a spot on Hilary Clinton’s enemies list by supporting Obama against her in the primary. If Casey thinks that this will soon be forgotten by West Virginians, he’s going to be in for a rude awakening on November 4th.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
