This House Democrat Is Racking Up Late Tax Penalties On Her Capitol Hill Townhouse

March 26, 2014

Democrat and veteran Senate staffer Amanda Renteria is trying to emphasize her “roots” in California’s central valley, but it’s clear she’s just another DC-insider trying to win a seat in Congress.

The Washington Examiner reported yesterday that Renteria is late on hundreds of dollars worth of property tax payments on her DC townhouse on Capitol Hill. She’s even racked up tax penalties and interest.

How can the voters back in California’s 21st District trust Renteria when she’s not only late on her property taxes, but she owes money to Washington?

From the Washington Examiner:

A Democratic Congressional candidate in California has been hit with a penalty after failing to pay all the taxes due on her Washington, D.C., apartment.

Amanda Renteria, who is challenging incumbent GOP Rep. David Valadao, has outstanding taxes due on the D.C. row house she owns with her husband, Patrick Brannelly.

A tax bill — which misspells her last name as “Rentenia” and is viewable online here — shows she is behind by $349.47, and that she has been penalized $29.37, as well as charged an extra $26.43 in interest.

The property is located near Capitol Hill.
