BREAKING: Medicare To Reduce Payments To Three-Quarters Of Eligible Hospitals

October 4, 2014

The Wall Street Journal published a startling piece on Medicare this morning.

According to Melinda Beck, Medicare will cut payments to a record 2,610 hospitals across the country because they readmitted too many patients within 30 days. That number is 75 percent of all hospitals eligible.

This is just another example of government bureaucracy stepping in to make decisions best left to patients and their doctors.

“Reducing readmission has been a top priority in health-care reform in the Obama administration—both to reduce Medicare spending and to spur hospitals to pay more attention to discharge planning for patients, who are being sent home ‘quicker and sicker’ than ever before. Nationwide, the percentage of Medicare patients readmitted within 30 days for any reason dropped from 19% to 18% last year, according to the CMS.”

Everyone knows President Obama cut Medicare to pay for ObamaCare, but other facets of the law that are now being implemented are also having a huge effect on seniors across the country.

It’s time to stand up to President Obama and his government bureaucrats looking to make your healthcare decisions for you.
