SOTU Review: More new content in a Perfect Strangers rerun

It’s been six years since Obama took office and tonight he sold the same bill of goods that he has every previous January.

He claims he’s looking out for the middle class, but no group has done worse under his Presidency than, you guessed it, the middle class. In fact, under Obama the labor force participation rate has declined to a 36 year low of 62.7 percent in December 2014.

He tells you that he can’t get things done for American families because of the Republican Congress. But when Obama had full control of the government during his first two years he ignored the middle class and focused on passing Obamacare – just ask Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.

Tonight he told you that he wants free community college for all, while leaving out the fact that he is going to pay for it by taxing the college savings accounts of middle class families. And while he sells his tax hike as only hitting the very rich, he neglects to include the very convenient economic principle that taxes are passed down to consumers and employees, i.e. the middle class.

I could go on and on – like Obama – but you get the point.

Bottom line? I’m more hopeful of finding something new and unexpected in a Perfect Strangers re-run than I am in next year’s speech– at least Balki wasn’t unoriginal.

NRCC Comment: “Barack Obama once promised hope and change, but six years later all we have are hopeless reruns of his stale policies. Despite a clear rejection of his policies this past November that resulted in the largest Republican majority in close to a century, Obama remains only willing to work with Republicans if they change their party affiliation and adopt 100 percent of his failed agenda.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
