Collin Peterson vs. Farm Bureau – Round 2

June 11, 2015

In less than 24 hours, Collin Peterson has split with the Farm Bureau on two high profile votes (Tuesday, Wednesday), leaving Minnesota farmers out to dry while Peterson stands with liberal special interests.Round-Two

Most recently, Peterson opposed repealing country of original labeling (COOL), which, if left in place, would open up US markets to billions in retaliatory tariffs from other countries.

One study estimated that Minnesota would face $533 million in tariffs if Collin Peterson had his way, hitting agriculture especially hard.

Peterson has long touted his record on agriculture issues, and these high profile splits from the Farm Bureau and many other agriculture groups reveal just how blindingly out of touch Peterson has become during more than 20 years in Washington.

“Collin Peterson voted against Minnesota farmers twice in 24 hours, opposing important bills supported by the Farm Bureau and many other agriculture groups. Twenty four years in Washington have made Peterson so out of touch that he’d risk the livelihood of Minnesota farmers to make a few special interest groups happy.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
