Will Annie Kuster Call On Barack Obama To Support Victims of Sexual Assault?
President Barack Obama vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which authorizes funding for the United States Armed Forces, despite bipartisan support for the plan. The bill also includes provisions to support victims of sexual assault. Since President Obama has made it clear that he is willing to deny funding to assist victims of sexual assault, will Annie Kuster vote to override this veto since she voted in favor of the bill? Or is Kuster afraid to rock the boat with her Party’s leader?
“Annie Kuster needs to override President Obama’s veto and stop playing politics with bipartisan legislation that supports victims of sexual assault in the military,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Some issues are more important than simply voting ‘yes’ and calling it a day, and soon we will find out if Annie Kuster thinks that includes supporting victims of sexual assault.”
The NDAA is critical in ensuring that the men and women of our military and their families receive the funding they have rightfully earned, in addition to provisions to support victims of sexual assault. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 270 to 156 and the Senate by a vote of 70 to 27.
