Brad Ashford: Having His Keystone Cake And Eating It Too

This is what happens when politicians try to have their cake and eat it too. Democrat Brad Ashford tried to reap the benefits of “supporting” the Keystone XL Pipeline without doing the uncomfortable work of standing up to fellow Democrats who irrationally demagogued the project, and now President Obama has formally rejected TransCanada’s proposal.

Instead of fighting for the estimated 1000+ new Nebraska jobs and energy security provided by the project, Brad Ashford stood by silently as President Obama sided with extreme environmentalists and killed the pipeline. Earlier this year, the World-Herald reported that Ashford “conceded that the pipeline hasn’t been his No. 1 issue.” Clearly.
