Ami Bera uses taxpayer dollars to mislead voters on his budget hypocrisy

January 6, 2016

bera budget letterRemember how Ami Bera hypocritically ran campaign ads about his support for “no budget, no pay” legislation despite NEVER having voted for a budget resolution since coming to Congress? Well, he’s at it again with an unsolicited, taxpayer-funded mailing to voters in CA-07 in which he tries to burnish his budget credentials in anticipation of a tough campaign in November.

7th District voters should not only be incensed over Bera’s budget hypocrisy, but also his brazen use of taxpayer funds to mislead voters on his record just weeks after an opponent announces against him. Bera is well aware that the NRCC has highlighted his budget hypocrisy time and time again, which raises questions about using taxpayer dollars for this unsolicited mailing going into an election year.

Here are some questions Bera needs to answer about this mailing:

How many people received this mailing?

What criteria did your office use to target them?

What was the cost to taxpayers?

How did you choose this subject of this mailing?

Do you plan on supporting any budget resolutions this year? If not, are you planning on introducing your own budget?

“Ami Bera should be ashamed of using taxpayer dollars to mislead voters about his budget hypocrisy in an unsolicited mailing. Bera needs to come clean not just about his irresponsible record on budgets, but also how much this mailing cost hardworking taxpayers.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
