NRCC Announces IE Director for the 2016 Cycle
The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that Jessica Furst Johnson will be the Independent Expenditure Director for the coming 2016 election cycle. Furst Johnson currently serves as the NRCC’s Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel.
“Jessica was instrumental in helping us win our historic Republican majority in 2014 and we are excited she will lead our IE unit in 2016,” said NRCC Executive Director Rob Simms. “With her extensive political experience and sharp instincts, Chairman Greg Walden and our entire team are excited to have Jessica lead this program. The NRCC is in a strong position to maintain and grow our majority and I am confident that Jessica is the right person to lead our IE unit in the fight.”
“I am thrilled to be a part of this talented team as we move into the 2016 election,” said NRCC IE Director Jessica Furst Johnson. “This will be a critical election year and I am excited to get to work and see our majority grow even larger. Chairman Greg Walden’s goal has always been to maintain and grow our majority and we are on a course to do just that.”
Jessica is entering her second cycle serving as the NRCC’s Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel, and her fourth cycle heading up the NRCC’s legal department. Jessica previously worked as an associate in Foley & Larder LLP’s Washington office in the Political Law Practice Group, where she represented various U.S. House and Senate candidates, party committees, and nonprofit organizations. Prior to that experience, Jessica served as Communications Director to Congresswoman Katherine Harris’ successful 2004 Congressional campaign.
