Brad Ashford’s Super PAC Hypocrisy

March 7, 2016

Ashford dark moneyThis weekend Brad Ashford hypocritically tried to rally the troops by decrying the effects of Super PACs on politics, despite having befitted from their spending in the 2014 election. Ashford made his position clear, saying he supports “solutions to get big money out of politics.”

But in 2014, Ashford benefited from more than $430,000 in “dark money” ads from the Democrat group House Majority PAC to boost his campaign.

Because Ashford so strongly opposes Super PAC spending, he should proactively decline any potential outside spending on his behalf right now before ad reservations are made for this fall. Will Ashford stand by his newfound principles or will he continue to welcome Super PAC spending on his behalf?

NRCC Comment: After benefiting from more than $430,000 in dark money ads in 2014, it couldn’t be more hypocritical for Brad Ashford to decry Super PAC spending in elections. 2nd District voters deserve better than this kind of Washington doublespeak from a hypocritical politician like Ashford.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
