NRCC Weekly Rundown: Americans think Clinton should have been indicted, Steve Santarsiero skips work to campaign in DC, and more!
And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
National: Real Clear Politics profiled NRCC Chairman Greg Walden this week, calling him an “experienced hand” to guide the committee this cycle. Thanks to the Chairman’s leadership, House Republicans are in prime position to maintain and grow our majority in 2016!
National: Speaker Paul Ryan continued his impressive fundraising clip last month and transferred another $5.4 million to the NRCC. Ryan has now transferred $25 million to the committee since becoming Speaker.
National: Two new polls show that the vast majority of Americans disagree with the FBI’s decision not to indict presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on charges related to her mishandling of classified national security information. With their support of Hillary Clinton, House Democrats have linked themselves to a candidate that the majority of Americans think should be headed to a courthouse instead of the White House.
National: House Republicans passed three bills that strengthen and expand sanctions against Iran for supporting terrorists and testing ballistic missiles, but with no help from House Democrats, who continued to put politics over national security.
National: House Democrats laughably believe they will be able to campaign on “security” this fall. If this is the big plan to win back the House, they may want to rethink their dangerous positions on moving terrorists from GITMO to U.S. soil and supporting Obama’s Iran nuclear deal.
National: DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján continues to tell tall tales about how Democrats have so many great candidates this cycle, even though they continue to fail at recruiting in key districts. Simple math shows there is no way for them to make significant gains in the House this cycle.
AZ-02: DCCC officially endorses Nancy Pelosi’s preferred candidate, Matt Heinz snubbing grassroots favorite Victoria Steele and local Democratic voters.
CA-36: Raul Ruiz clearly has no regrets over supporting Obama’s dangerous Iran Deal. He voted against strengthening sanctions on Iran in a pathetic attempt to gain political points from Democratic Party leaders.
MI-01 & MI-07: Bad news for Michiganders, health insurers will be hiking their premium rates because of Obamacare. Now, that hardworking Michigan families will be directly hit, is Lon Johnson still grateful for Obamacare? And MI-01 candidate Gretchen Driskell made the terrible prophecy that the law will lower the costs of health care, does she still believe this?
NY-03 Tom Suozzi is upset with us, the NRCC, for questioning his campaign slogan, “Gets It Done,” considering he has a terrible record of… getting things done. Sadly for Tom, his tantrum won’t distract from the disastrous job he did as Nassau County Executive.
NY-19: Zephyr Teachout is a total fraud. She claims to be against PAC money but she’s holding a special fundraiser with Steny Hoyer, who is a major player in the PAC money game.
NY-24: Colleen Deacon once again shows her true loyalty lies with the DC elite, not with the people of central New York. This time she is refusing to question the FBI decision to not indict Hillary Clinton. Don’t forget, she also couldn’t think of a single issue where she would break with Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats.
PA-08: It’s a workday so that means Steve Santarsiero is avoiding doing his job. Unfortunately for Steve, we have exclusive video of him wandering around D.C when he should have been in Harrisburg working on the state budget.
NEWS AND NOTES:
PA-8: GOP Hammers Santarsiero For DC Trip
“Steve Santarsiero has again demonstrated that he puts his political career ahead of the taxpayers who pay him $85,000 a year to represent them in Harrisburg,” NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack said. “The least Steve Santarsiero can do is explain why he was campaigning in Washington, DC when he should have been in Harrisburg finalizing a bipartisan budget to fund our public schools and public universities.” READ
Republican congressional committee goes after Thomas Suozzi
In what may be a preview of the kind of attack ads that might run in the campaign, Chris Pack, regional press secretary for the NRCC, sent out a news release last week attacking Suozzi for his campaign slogan asserting he “Gets It Done.” READ
Ami Bera snubbed by California labor group in endorsement list
If Rep. Ami Bera is to win a third term this fall, he will have to do it without an endorsement from the influential California Labor Federation, which has clashed with the Elk Grove Democrat over trade policy in recent months. The 2.1 million-member group, which backed Bera in the past, announced Wednesday that it would make no endorsement recommendation for Sacramento County’s 7th Congressional District. READ
FOCUS: SCOTT PETERS AND CONGRESSIONAL PALS SWAP DONATIONS
San Diego Rep. Scott Peters and his family have been involved in a series of donation exchanges with the families of other congressional candidates, apparently legal trade-offs that allowed more money to flow to each campaign than might be allowed under contribution limits. READ

Officials with both campaigns reported the latest fundraising numbers Wednesday. With the latest money pull, Comstock’s cash-on-hand edge grows to nearly $1.5 million. The incumbent has $2.3 million to spend compared to Bennett’s $871,000. READ

Knocking Down Barriers McSally-Style
As a woman who broke barriers herself, Arizona Republican Rep. Martha McSally wants to make sure other women can do the same. The first woman to fly a fighter jet in combat is launching the GOP Working Group on Women in the 21st Century Workforce on Thursday to examine the root causes of the barriers and challenges women face. “I grew up in a family where I was told I could be anything I wanted to be and it wasn’t until I joined the military that I realized there were barriers for me as a girl and as a woman,” McSally said.
