NRCC Weekly Rundown: Another DCCC recruit goes down, Brad Ashford goes into hiding, and more!
And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
National: The Wall Street Journal provided a reality check against the DCCC’s laughable claims that they can retake a House majority this cycle. According to the Journal, a combination of recruiting failures and poor fundraising will leave Democrats in the minority once again after November.
National: A new report this week took a look at Hillary Clinton’s campaign proposals and their projected effect on the U.S. economy. The result? A $1.3 trillion tax hike and $2.2 trillion added to the budget deficit.
CO-06: Hillary Clinton made her way to Colorado this week, reminding Coloradans of Morgan Carroll’s full embrace of her candidacy. Carroll has yet to detail any way that she plans to be independent from Clinton or Nancy Pelosi, and their reckless policies if she is elected.
MD-06: John Delaney expressed his “support” for Israel, but his record tells a different story. Delaney has steadfastly supported the Iran nuclear deal, even as Iran test fired ballistic missiles that threaten Israel’s security.
NE-02: Hillary Clinton came to Omaha this week to campaign, as Brad Ashford went into hiding. But no matter how hard Ashford tries to dodge Clinton, Nebraskans will remember his long-standing support for her unpopular candidacy.
WA-08: Another primary, another DCCC recruit losing in spectacular fashion. This time, the DCCC’s candidate, Alida Skold, lost to a candidate who dropped out of the race weeks ago, and who will not accept donations to his campaign going forward.
NEWS AND NOTES:
Vulnerable Democrat Sits Out Clinton Rally in Omaha
“Brad Ashford can hightail it out of town, but voters won’t forget his full embrace of Hillary Clinton’s toxic candidacy. Clinton’s far-left agenda is wrong for Nebraska and Ashford can’t hide just how out of step he is with 2nd District families,” said Zach Hunter, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee. Republicans Consider Next Steps After News of Obama Administration Cash Transfer to Iran
“The claim that the timing is coincidental is beyond unbelievable,” said Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., an outspoken critic of U.S. policy toward Iran. “It is clear at this point that one of two possibilities apply to this administration: either the president has absolutely no idea what he is doing or the president knows exactly what he is doing and is playing for some other team.” “Unfortunately, paying a $400 million ransom is no game and the consequences are grave,” Zeldin told The Daily Signal in an interview. But in an interview, Stefanik, a member of the House Armed Services Committee in her first re-election bid, said the missile shield is an integral part of national defense and Fort Drum is the ideal location for an East Coast launch pad. “Given the threats around the world today, our missile defense must be at highest state of readiness possible,” she said. “The priority now is to ensure that Fort Drum is in the best possible position as the preferred site.” READ
