Morgan Carroll Disses The Denver Post, Ducks Debates
In an ice cold insult, Morgan Carroll declined to participate in The Denver Post’s 6th Congressional District debate citing her campaign’s desire to only do debates that give them the “farthest reach.”
As if insulting Colorado’s largest paper wasn’t bad enough, Carroll is stonewalling voters and ducking debates altogether, having yet to commit to a single appearance with Rep. Mike Coffman.
Carroll has largely been absent on the campaign trail this year, choosing rather to hypocritically fundraise with a Super PAC and advocating to close GITMO and open the door to bringing terrorist detainees to Colorado. Now Carroll is shamefully hiding from 6th District voters and ducking debates to avoid defending her extreme record.
NRCC Comment: “By declining to participate in the Denver Post’s debate, Morgan Carroll has not only insulted the largest paper in Colorado, but also the 6th District voters that deserve to hear directly from Carroll herself before Election Day. If Carroll is too afraid to defend her extreme record in public, then she should just admit now that she will not debate and save everyone the trouble of parsing her political doublespeak as she painfully tries to explain away her sudden shyness.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter

As the campaign season kicks into high gear after Labor Day, there are no debates yet scheduled in one of the most-watched U.S. House races in the country. east metro Denver’s 6th Congressional District.
The campaign for incumbent Republican Mike Coffman has signaled to various debate organizers that he’s eager to set dates. His challenger, state Sen. Morgan Carroll of Aurora, is still trying to “hammer out details,” but Coffman hasn’t returned their messages, said Drew Godinich, Carroll’s campaign spokesman.
Godinich said Carroll wants to do three debates but hasn’t yet made a final decision on which ones. Carroll’s campaign declined an invitation to participate in a debate put on by The Denver Post.
“With the limited time that we have between now and Election Day, we’re going to do the debates that give us the farthest reach,” he said in an e-mail.
