NRCC Chairman Steve Stivers Makes The Case Against Jon Ossoff

June 20, 2017

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers this morning appeared on the Hugh Hewitt Show with guest host Mark Davis to talk about the special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District.

Mark Davis: Yeah I think the things that really, really matter the most are policies. It was a thin margin in terms of Trump versus Hillary, but it was a Trump winning district. It was a hugely Tom Price voting district, so it’s hard to imagine that Georgia 06 would send the admittedly gifted Jon Ossoff who’s got a certain future in the party, seems to be a good guy in many ways, but doggone it this is Obama/Hillary style foreign policy. It is the Democratic Party’s take on Constitutional issues. Jon Ossoff, there’s no wiping the ‘D’ from alongside his name. He is a Democrat, and I think everybody should know even a moderate Democrat is still a Democrat.

NRCC Chairman Steve Stivers: That’s right and [Ossoff is] heavy on taxes. He’s light on military support. He is a Democrat. In the end, he’s going to vote with Nancy Pelosi most of the time and it’s going to not represent what most people in Georgia’s Sixth believe with regard to taxes, fiscal policy and also foreign policy. So, I think there’s plenty of reasons to go out and vote for Karen Handel on policy today as well.
